Good Questions
Frequently Asked Questions
How does an in-home wine tasting work?
We bring a guided tasting to your home or a private location you choose. You tell us about your group, we plan a flight of private, small-vineyard wines that are new and high quality, and on the day a host arrives with the wine, sets up at your kitchen island, dining table or lanai, walks your group through each wine, and cleans up. You provide the glasses and your friends; nobody in your group has to drive.
How many guests can I invite?
We host everything from a quiet couples' tasting to a lively party. The right guest count depends on your space and the format — a guided tasting suits a smaller group, while a wine tasting party is built for larger, livelier crowds. Tell us your space and we'll help you plan a comfortable count.
How many wines are poured at a tasting?
A typical flight is five or six wines poured in small tasting pours, arranged from light to full and dry to sweet so each one leads naturally to the next. The exact number and style is confirmed when you book, based on your group and what you'd like to explore.
How long does a wine tasting last?
Most tastings run about an hour and a half to two hours, with time to talk, taste and relax. We pace it to your evening, so there's no rush and plenty of room for food and conversation alongside the wine.
What food should I serve at a wine tasting?
Keep it simple and relaxed — a cheese and charcuterie board, some bread, nuts and fruit all pair well with a flight. You don't need a full meal; a little food alongside the wine keeps everyone comfortable. We can talk through pairing ideas when you book.
Do I need special glasses?
No special glasses required — any wine glasses you have on hand work fine. You provide the glasses and your friends; we bring the wine and everything else we need to pour. A small snack to cleanse the palate between wines is a nice touch if you'd like one.
Is a wine tasting expensive?
Cost depends on the number of guests, the number and style of wines, the length of the event, travel distance, and any add-ons such as custom-label bottles. We go over all the details with you up front — reach out and we'll get back to you quickly.
What is the 20-minute rule for wine?
It's a simple guideline: after opening, let a wine breathe for about 20 minutes before pouring, especially fuller reds. It gives the wine a chance to open up and show its flavors. Your host handles the timing so you can relax.
Can you make custom wine bottle labels for my event?
Yes. We finish bottles with a label designed for you — names, dates, a photo, a message or a company logo you have the right to use. They make wedding favors, gifts and party keepsakes, and can be added to any tasting or party. You approve a proof before we finish the bottles.
Do all guests have to be 21?
Yes. All of our tastings and parties are for adults 21 and over. Every guest must be 21 or older to take part, and we ask that hosts plan safe rides home for anyone who drinks.
